BlackBerry® Curve™ 8900 (AT&T) Product Overview

BlackBerry® Curve™ 8900 (AT&T) Detail

With a sleek titanium finish, the BlackBerry Curve 8900 is the thinnest and lightest full-QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone yet. As expected from a Blackberry device, the Curve 8900 is packed with features for your business needs. The built-in Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) supports both voice and data, and the built-in GPS supports location-based services, including turn-by-turn navigation. And, of course, the Blackberry Curve 8900 supports communication and connectivity --including email served up by the BlackBerry Internet Service, Microsoft Exchange Server and an array of messaging options (SMS, MMS, and IM). The Blackberry Curve 8900's advanced multimedia capabilities include a 3.2-megapixel camera with image stabilization, digital zoom, flash and the ability to record video and play video. This updated Curve's other features include a hot-swappable MicroSD/SDHC memory card slot (for cards up to 16 GB; 256 MB card included), Bluetooth for hands-free communication and stereo music streaming, a multi-format digital audio player, and up to 5.5 hours of talk time.

Re: Powerpoint on BlackBerry phones 0 Post(s) Reply You are able to open, view, and edit powerpoint, word, and excel documents on many of the new BlackBerry devices. They include the BlackBerry Curve 8900, BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Curve 8310, 8320 and 8330, and BlackBerry PEarl Flip 8220 and 8230. The Pearl 8100 series does not come preloaded with the software to run these features.

What's the difference between this Curve and the one offered for T-Mobile?
-besquarem

  • Re: AT 0 Post(s) Reply

Re: AT 0 Post(s) Reply The AT&T Curve doesn't support UMA, which is a feature that allows you to roam seamlessly onto a local WiFi network to make calls, when coverage is poor. The T-Mobile version of the phone supports UMA.

Does the BB Curve 8900 require the user to compulsorily subscribe to a data plan from AT&T? Is it possible to get this with a voice-only Family plan with no data included?

A sales clerk told me that he heard that later there will be a software upgrade for the Curve 8900 that will allow it to use the 3G network. Will there be any such software upgrade or conversion?
-Ray

  • Re: 3G Upgrade? 0 Post(s) Reply

Re: 3G Upgrade? 0 Post(s) Reply It is highly unlikely. There are hardware requirements to use 3G. Think of the original iPhone. It can never access the 3G network. But Bold and its soon to be out successor have both WiFi and 3G.
